Mr. X
Here is my Mr. X entry. I have to admit, I know next to nothing about this character. Most of the images I saw had the cityscape lit up with spotlights. So, because I love drawing buildings, that’s what I went with.
I’d like to take a second and introduce a new Shut Up and Draw contributor that has graciously joined our little sketching party… Mr Johnnie Xmas! You can see his first SUaD piece just below!

More Than Meets The Eye
There were a few 80′s cartoons I could have chosen to homage for this week’s topic. But when push came to shove, The Transformers came out on top. That choice might have to do with my interest in drawing robots or my love for the Shogun Warriors comic. However, it’s more than likely it’s due to the fact that my 6 year old son has been watching an episode of Transformers every night for the past 8+ months.
I decided to draw the after math of a battle with the Decepticons. Poor Sparkplug…

RONIN
If asked, “What single comic book issue or graphic novel most inspired you to start drawing comics?” I would have to say it was Frank Miller’s RONIN.
Never had a comic book challenged me as much as that book. The art, the pacing, the story… it was a bucket of cold water over my head. To this day, I still take the book off my shelf to study the work Miller (and colourist Lynn Varley) created.
Time Enough At Last
Shut Up and Draw’s first week sees us paying homage to our favorite Twilight Zone or Outer Limits episodes. I chose “Time Enough At Last”. That episode still resonates with me after my first viewing of it nearly 30 years ago.
